Industrial Allocation and how to register
All New Zealand fresh tomato growers are eligible to claim industrial allocation (IA) for the tomatoes that you produce. This is to compensate for the ETS that is paid on energy in New Zealand that other countries are not subject to. Even if you don't pay ETS you can still currently claim IA. The process is several steps and isn't as straight forward as it could be but the Environment Protection Authority has produced a series of articles to help growers through the process. Please note that you need to register on the Emssions Trading Scheme register by 31st December each year to then be able to qualify to claim for IA the following year by 30th April.
